Google Play screenshot sizes & requirements (2026)
Last verified against Google Play's graphic assets requirements.
How Play differs from the App Store
Google Play checks ranges and aspect ratios, not exact pixel sizes: anything from 320 to 3,840 px per side passes, provided the long side is at most twice the short side. Apple does the opposite and demands exact dimensions per display class — see the App Store screenshot sizes reference. The flexibility is a trap in one way: screenshots below 1,080 px still upload fine, but silently disqualify your listing from Google’s curated promotional surfaces.
Screenshot requirements by device type
| Device type | Aspect ratio | Dimensions | Count |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phone | 9:16 or 16:9 | 320–3,840 px per side; 1080 × 1920 recommended | Min 2 overall, up to 8 |
| 7" tablet | 9:16 or 16:9 | 320–3,840 px per side | Up to 8 |
| 10" tablet | 9:16 or 16:9 | 320–3,840 px per side | Up to 8 |
| Chromebook / large screens | 16:9 or 9:16 | 1,080–7,680 px per side | Min 4 for large-screen promotion |
| Wear OS | 1:1 | Min 384 × 384 px | Required for Wear apps |
| Android TV | 16:9 | Screenshot + 1280 × 720 banner | Min 1 + banner required |
| Android Automotive | Portrait & landscape | 800 × 1,280 and 1,024 × 768 | 2 of each |
| Android XR | 8:5 | 3840 × 2400 recommended (min 1920 × 1200) | 4–8 |
Other required store graphics
| Asset | Size | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Feature graphic | 1024 × 500 px | JPEG or PNG. Required for video playback and promotional placement. |

Practical workflow
- Design portrait screenshots once at 1080 × 1920 or larger — that single set satisfies phones and both tablet classes.
- Export the 1024 × 500 feature graphic from the same visual system so the listing reads as one piece.
- Reuse the identical project for Apple’s exact sizes instead of redesigning per store.
QuickScreens ships Play presets (including Pixel 8 and Galaxy S24 Ultra frames) alongside the Apple set, so one project exports both stores. Preparing a launch? Start with the pre-launch listing checklist and the ten-minute screenshot walkthrough.
Frequently asked questions
What size should Google Play screenshots be?
Each side must be between 320 px and 3,840 px, with the long side no more than twice the short side. In practice, export 1080 × 1920 portrait (9:16) or 1920 × 1080 landscape (16:9) — those meet the minimum for Google Play's promotional placements.
How many screenshots does Google Play require?
A minimum of 2 screenshots across your device types, and up to 8 per device type (phone, 7-inch tablet, 10-inch tablet, Chromebook, Wear OS, TV). To be eligible for promotion in curated placements, apps need at least 4 screenshots at 1080 px or larger, games at least 3.
Is the Google Play feature graphic required?
Effectively yes. The 1024 × 500 px feature graphic (JPEG or PNG) is required before your preview video can show and before Google will feature your app in promotional placements. Treat it as mandatory store artwork, not an optional extra.
Can I use the same screenshots for the App Store and Google Play?
The same designs, yes — but not the same files. Google Play accepts flexible dimensions like 1080 × 1920, while Apple requires exact sizes such as 1320 × 2868. Design once, then export a store-exact set for each; QuickScreens does both from one project.
What are the Google Play tablet screenshot sizes?
7-inch and 10-inch tablet screenshots follow the same rules as phones: 16:9 or 9:16, each side 320–3,840 px. For large-screen (Chromebook and tablet) promotion, Google asks for at least 4 screenshots between 1,080 and 7,680 px.
What size is the Google Play app icon?
512 × 512 px, exported as a 32-bit PNG with alpha, up to 1024 KB. Google Play applies its own rounded-corner mask, so supply a full-bleed square rather than pre-rounding the corners.
